Aaron Brewer For Mayor

Aaron Brewer has begun discussing his plans to run, in 2022, for the office of Booneville Mayor. “Following my election to City Council in 2016, I continue to remain focused on making a difference in Booneville. I still listen to citizens, promising to work to correct issues they find troubling in our city.” Those issues are still broadly identified as property cleanliness, city employee accountability, lack of park resources, and drug problems. Other areas of concern for Booneville are an increase in educational opportunities, the creation and development of recreational areas for all ages, new businesses, and economic growth. “These are all areas I intend to focus on to make a positive change. I grew up in Booneville and can remember when it was thriving and had a lot of community pride. While I then lived in the country, Booneville was where I went to school, where my parents shopped, and where my life was centered.”

Aaron pursued a career in law enforcement starting at Cummins Penitentiary, then spent four years in the United States Air Force. He worked for the Booneville Police Department as a patrolman and was hired in 1985 as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. He transitioned to the Social Security Administrations - Office of the Inspector General (SSA-OIG), in 1996. Additionally, he worked with Anti-Terrorism Task Forces in Kentucky and California, following the 2011 terrorist attacks. His federal law enforcement career spanned 32 years, until his retirement in 2012. “My law enforcement career taught me to be decisive, strong-willed, legalistic, open-minded, and fair, yet impartial. I led and managed multi-jurisdictionally complex cases involving smuggling, drug investigations and human slavery.” He says management of these various activities, agencies and jurisdictions taught him to multi-task, attend to detail, and engage cooperation in order to get the job done.

Aaron owns and is Principal Broker at Mountain Vista Real Estate and is owner/Auctioneer at Brewer Auctions. “I have a vested interest in Booneville’s growth both economically and geographically, but also in the success and retention of our citizens.” In 1996, Aaron received a master’s degree in Human Resource Management and Administration.

While still continuing to focus on complaints from citizens during these past 4 years concerning neighborhood appearances, as a City Councilman he sought enforcement activity from the city that went beyond a warning letter to the owner. “During my term of office on the City Council, I reviewed other city ordinances and modified our own city ordinances, so that they reflect state-wide standards.” He went on to state that, “Arguably, fines are not the intended fruit of the ordinance; instead, we are seeking action from residents to clean and improve the appearance of their property.” He added, “Our city ordinances have not been applied as they were intended. I believe consistent, equitable and progressive application of these ordinances will positively affect the growth of Booneville.”

Aaron completed classes in Little Rock, offered through the Arkansas Municipal League and was certified in 2018, as a Municipal Official. “My knowledge of how city government’s function and operate, as well as the tools available to municipalities, many of which are offered through the Arkansas Municipal League, leaves me wondering why Booneville hasn’t taken advantage of all that the state has to offer. There are grants and programs designed to help cities realize even fuller potential, as long as they are carefully applied for and correctly monitored.” Aaron plans to recruit a grant writer. He also plans to focus attention on assistance programs for our seniors and youth, community gardens, attention to the needs of the police, fire, and water departments, airport, Boys and Girls Club, partnership with the Booneville Human Development Center, continued downtown revitalization, and outdoor recreational activities. “This list just continues; I believe that with careful administration of our budget we will see positive growth. I enjoy listening and look forward to learning more about the needs of Booneville. Please call me at 479-675-0453 or on my cellphone at 323-695-1528, because I want an opportunity to listen to and visit with every citizen of Booneville. You can also find me on Facebook at Aaron Brewer for Booneville Mayor and on a locally produced podcast at localinsidershow.com.”

Additionally, Aaron enjoys teaching archery at 4-H, volunteering as an auctioneer for the Relay for Life, South Logan County Fair premium auction, and other yearly fundraisers. He is Past President of both Rotary and Kiwanis in Booneville and was appointed as Assistant District Governor of Rotary for four local area clubs. Additionally, Aaron was President of the Fort Smith Board of REALTORS throughout 2021. He is currently President of the Chamber of Commerce, serving his fourth term in that office. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Brenda (Rogers) Haley Brewer, they collectively have six children and five grandchildren.
