Booneville City Council Meeting January 2022
At the Booneville City Council meeting held on January 24th, several items were discussed and voted on. The Council approved the recommendations of the Planning and Development Commission for rezoning of the West Littlefield Estate commercial property along Hwy 10 to residential. The Council did not approve the rezoning for 398 E. 2nd Street in Booneville. The property was purchased by Western Arkansas Counseling and Guidance Center. WACGC was asked to share the organization's plans to convert the property into a short-term care facility for women. Approval was given by the City Council to proceed.
The City Council again discussed the opportunity to apply for a 50/50 matching grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, History and Tourism to install the splash pad, upgrade the playground equipment at Marcelle Philips, build a new bathroom facility, and add a playground at the Municipal Ball Park east of Booneville. The South Logan County Splash Pad Committee has raised roughly $15,000 for the project, with more fundraisers planned throughout 2022. The RattleCat would like to hear from the residents of Booneville and South Logan County. As the city is looking to expand the Parks and Recreation offerings, what would you, as a taxpayer, like to see developed and what is most important to you? This is an opportunity for Booneville to invest in its future. Your comments are welcome.
