Please join us in congratulating Bill & Stacy Holbert on Ridgeview for being awarded the September 2021 yard of the month. Their display of beautiful begonias, crepe myrtle, irises, caladium, and marigolds really wowed the judges this month!

The store front of the month was awarded to The Booneville Senior Center & you can’t deny all those beautiful flower colors really stand out! We want to personally thank every home & business owner who takes the time to make Booneville look its very best!

If you have someone you’d like to nominate for storefront or yard of the month, please reach out to the Garden Club.

KEEP SHINING BRIGHT!

We would like to take the time to recognize a very special employee. This employee goes above and beyond for the City of Booneville, always willing to take on tasks that are a little out of his normal. Booneville Police Chief Ben Villarreal is always thinking of ways to help Booneville grow and prosper. Lately, Chief Villarreal has been busy implementing a new way of serving cleanup letters throughout the city, ensuring that when anyone has a complaint about a property within the city, can be heard. To combat the lack of maintenance on these properties he has assigned officers to specific wards to ensure that no one falls thru the cracks and the city can be better maintained. On top of Chief Villarreal’s regular duties, he was caught Thursday doing something that really stood out and shows just the type of leader and person he is. Chief Villarreal always takes the term “protect and serve” very seriously, but being the leader he is, he knows that sometimes service isn’t exactly what you would expect it to be

Chief surely expected to spend much of his day in court, as that’s a normal occurrence for him, but I’d bet he didn’t expect to be in full dress uniform laying on the concrete, changing a tire afterward! That’s what he found himself doing though! In the hottest part of the day, the Chief didn’t think twice about helping a mom after she was stranded with a flat tire. He quickly jumped into action making sure that once her daughter had finished permit testing, they would all be able to get back on the road and head home. Thank You Chief Villarreal for setting an awesome example and for having a heart full of service to others!

If you know of someone who deserves the spotlight for their extraordinary dedication to help others and be a positive example in our community, we want to hear about them! You can reach us using our email, cityofbnvl@gmail.com. That same email can be used for any questions or concerns you may have. We rely heavily on our citizens to be our eyes and our ears around town. If you see something, say something.
