This & That, December 7, 2021

The weather person is saying it is likely to be the warmest December on record. It sure makes for a bulging closet as you have to have both winter and summer clothing at hand. Not complaining, because as you age, you can’t take the cold as well as you used to.

It was really nice weather for the Booneville Christmas Parade last Saturday night. The kids were all excited, trying to fill their bags with candy. It was a nice parade, and First Western Bank was treating folks with Christmas cookies, punch, and popcorn. Some kids had balloons, and as usual, some were getting loose and taking flight.

The Magazine Parade is scheduled for this coming Saturday night, Dec. 11. The snowflakes are on the poles lining the streets, and there is a beautiful Tree in the city park. More homes are being decorated daily, lighting up the Christmas scene.

Happy “late” Birthday to Annetta Garner back on Nov. 27. I had failed to put her last name in the paper. She is a teacher at Booneville Elementary and Grandmother to some of my great-grands. It is a small world, after all.

Also, Mrs. Olene Durham Burwell’s birthday was on Dec. 3rd. She is 102. WOW!

December, Month of Weddings: This time we have a big wedding anniversary coming up for R.H. and Charlotte Johnson of Magazine; this is number 71 years married for them on December 15th. Congratulations!

Then, Happy Anniversary to my daughter, Joni and husband Doug Erb on Dec. 16, #2; to John Thomas and Donya Leslie on the 17th; to Eric and Toni Catlett on the 18th, to Jerry and Diana Wilkins on the 20th. Happy Anniversary to all of you and wish you many more.

Thank you to First Baptist Church in Magazine for all the Thanksgiving meals. They were delicious! Also to Reid’s BBQ who served over 250 meals again this year.
